Health Administration

An organization needs planned management strategies to make it successful in its performance.  Some basic strategies like effective negotiation, problem-solving, decision-making skills and communications skills have proved imperative to human resource management especially in health care institutions over expansive organizational structures.

From the human resource point of view, effective communication in an organization features on the transparency in communication between the employees and the senior management in an organization such as that that deals with healthcare provision. The openness in communication among the employees and the senior management fosters productivity and engagement among the employees (Jim, Sandra, 2002).
Communications within a healthcare environment is important and every organization should work to deal with the challenges arising from the issue.  There are four types of organizational communication overall organizational communication, intra-organization communication, group level communication and the interpersonal.  All of these contribute to the healthy running of an organization.

The establishment and maintenance of rapport for business relations is depended on the effective communication skills with sound language usage and understanding. This is not only important in healthcare organizations but also to a wide cross cultural environment.  Effective communication is important in any healthcare organization because of the ever changing trend of the world of work (Jim, Sandra, 2002). Due to increased need for knowledge, innovation and learning in the sustaining of healthcare organizations, communication has become an important tool. In addition, the healthcare professions are ever traveling to wider geographical locations which require keen problem solutions to counter unnecessary barriers arising from inadequate information access.

The healthcare professionals have been of high demand especially those from the developed countries.  They often travel to the developing countries for expertise functions and when this happens, problems like communication is not easily assumed. Thanks to the modern technology which can allow language translation using computers. Huge problems in the past used to befall this kind of expertise when they traveled to the developing countries.  In the modern days, if an expertise from the developed country was to travel to the developing country, enough information abut the country is first collected and plans like vaccination can be done prior to traveling.

The world has turned to be one small village.  Scientists and healthcare professionals are ever exchanging ideas on the challenges faced by the world in terms of disease and other maladies. Effective communication is important to reach this objective of sharing.  In the same organization, it may be possible to find people from different ethnic groups working as healthcare professionals. This call for the application of the three aspects of communication media, public and inter-organizational (Jim, Sandra, 2002).

There should be a commitment in the side of Human Resources managers to foster employee involvement in making decisions.  This can only be achieved through proper communication strategies.  When this is properly organized, the workforce gets energized, productive and more focused. The employees are motivated when they have a participatory environment which actively involves them. The voice of employees is important when planning and implementation of various strategies of an organization.

Majority of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) meetings with employees help out to build attraction and some sense of trust. The meetings held during luncheons, roundtables and cross-departmental work groups aid in communication among employees.

In any organization, the art of problem solving is in the first place established by the management.  Although the management may seem to offer decisions which dictate the direction of business, some theorists and critics of such an assumption proposed a model of participation of the employers to support their support.  This model sometimes is referred to as a learning organization originally proposed by Senge. In this model, all the employees are seen as potential sources of problem solution.

The other strategy to ensure that healthcare organization or any other organization gets a go ahead is the negotiation.  The negotiation can as well be referred to as finding the middle ground.  When a problem arises, the management commits to make a balance between the two impeding scenarios which may make the organization to be failing reaching the objectives.  Efficient Human Resources should know how to strike a balance two parties until a solution is found. For example, in a health care organization, the Human Resources should be taking the complaints of the staff in order to address the problems.

Generally, it is essential to Utilizing effective negotiation, problem-solving and decision-making skills and communications skills in managing human resources and health professionals in diverse organizational environments. It is important to check if an organization has a planned structure of effective communication to avoid prejudices which may arise from misunderstanding.  The concept of problem solving is important part of the healthcare management (Jim, Sandra, 2002). There exists no organization that goes free without problems.  However, the system to address the problems determines the strength of an organization.  In a situation where the problem seems complex, employees can be involved in searching for an effective remedy. The synergy ensures a healthy running of the healthcare organization or any other organizational environment.
